I made my first ever yeast starter yesterday evening. Having growlers around the house definitely came in handy. Made sure everything was clean and sanitized, 20 minute boil, chilled it back down, and now the yeast cultures are doing their thing.
You can’t see much in the picture due to the photo quality and the color of the glass, but the yeast inside is alive and actively working/eating. In another 24 hours it will be ready to devour the wort of my NEVER WINTER STOUT.
I had always been overwhelmed with the idea of starter in the past, but now that I have actually made one, all that anxiety is gone.
Cheers to high gravity beers!
